Goal-keeper providing their own kit, Masters/Vets, Associate Members

Goalkeeper with their own kit:

In the Senior Section within any membership category (Senior/Student/U18/Vets) there is a membership fee of £20.00 per season.

Where a goalkeeper is provided with kit by the Club the normal player subscription applies, see subscription tables for each membership category and payment option. If you are building up your own kit and only borrowing some pieces of kit from the club please reach out to the membership secretary to discuss as a discounted sub may be available.

Masters/Vets:

The men’s section has a Veteran's side who compete for fun and the sheer enjoyment of playing hockey. The fixtures are midweek evening matches arranged with local and further afield veteran's sides. For more information about the team please visit our Men's Vets Team page.

The membership for Masters/Vets, who only play in these midweek games, is Subscription & Match fees, please refer to the table below.

Note: Vets subs - £10 surcharge for subs paid after Sept 30th (£110), £35 surcharge after October 31st (£135)

A member of the senior section who has paid their SUBS can play Vets matches and would be charged the match fee only at £7 per game.

As a Vets member, if the player then also plays in a Saturday game, this would be charged at £15 per game as they would be classed as an occasional player. Please refer to the occasional player information below for the rules that would apply.

Associate Member

We are a very social group and therefore also welcome non-playing members who wish to be part of the Club with a one off membership fee of £20.00. As an associate member you would have use of our Clubhouse facilities including bar and seating area for post-game refreshments.

Subscription Examples

The below examples are to illustrate some of the payment options available.

How many games are there in the season? – For both the ladies and men’s sections there are usually 20 games for the winter season between September and up to early April (depending where Easter falls).

Tommy

Saturday Game? – he absolutely loves his hockey, genuinely what do people do on a Saturday if they are not playing hockey?! (Tommy says in bewilderment).

Training? – Tommy will be at training every week eager to improve and practice drills with the squad, 100% committed, and a great chance to spend more time with his teammates.

Membership Option? – September comes back around and time to decide on membership. Tommy wants to play as much hockey as he can so will make himself available every Saturday to play. He defines himself as a ‘Regular Player’ so opts for the ‘Combined Subscription Options’. Tommy doesn’t want to think about the membership side again for the winter season so goes for ‘full payment upfront’, (get it sorted in one hit.)

Lizzy

Saturday Game? – Just like Tommy, Lizzy loves hockey, even on tour she will play every game (must be top goal scorer), these two have so much in common! Lizzy will be available every Saturday and will plan her social life around it; holidays can only be on the weekends off.

Training? – Lizzy is first at training each week and volunteers for all the demonstrations, making the most of the dedicated coaching team.

Membership Option? – As a regular player like Tommy, Lizzy is also looking at the ‘Combined Subscription Options’ but would rather spread the cost (and is more organised) so arranges a standing order (SO) to start in September and finishing before end March.

Charlotte

Saturday Game? – Charlotte enjoys hockey but works to fund her social life and holidays. Unlikely to be able to play every Saturday but hopes to play more weekends than not.

Training? – Hopes to make training most weeks, but sometimes with work it is a struggle.

Membership Option? –Charlotte is not as regular a player as Lizzy and Tommy, but hopes to play 10 or more games in the season. Charlotte opts for the ‘Subscription & Match Fees’ option so pays the subs upfront and then per game for each week that able to play.

Laurence

Saturday Game? – Laurence is a Doctor in the hospital and working shift patterns which make it difficult to determine when free to play. Enjoys hockey and would play more if possible, but realistically it is difficult to estimate how many games he will manage to play during the winter season.

Training? – Even with a 9am-5pm shift, getting out on time is not guaranteed therefore will not be able to commit to the weekday evening training but will attend when possible.

Membership Option? – Laurence does not expect to be able to play more than four games during the season and will rarely make training. Laurence is an ‘Occasional Player’ so will be paying per game with the match fee only.

This doesn’t help at all! I don’t fit into any of these categories

Please do not worry. If you are still unsure of which membership option would be best for you please reach out to our Membership Secretary – Pam Dalton at: membership@warwickhockey.co.uk and they would be happy to help.

If you just want to come along to some training to start with before deciding that is also fine, however membership needs confirming prior to being selected to play in a league match. Our Membership Secretary will be at the ladies training and visiting men’s training if you want to chat anything through. Please send an email to the email address above to ensure they know which pitch to find you on.

Started part-way through the season?

Please reach out to the membership secretary directly to discuss options.

What if my circumstances change?

All of committee are volunteers and part of the hockey family. If you need to discuss a change in circumstances please reach out to the membership secretary and they will review this with the treasurer and everything is kept confidential.

A couple of examples below:

Charlotte

Charlotte, who we met earlier opted for the ‘Subscription & Match Fees’ at the start of the season but her circumstances changed.

Just before Christmas Charlotte had only played three games and then suffered an injury and therefore unfortunately could not play for the rest of the season. After speaking to the membership secretary, who then referred the circumstance to the Treasurer, they agreed to change Charlotte from ‘Subscription & Match Fees’ to an ‘Occasional Player’ as she had played less than four games and unable to play any more this season and had barely made any training either. A refund was agreed.

Lilly

Lilly is 17 and at the start of the season opted for the ‘Subscription & Match Fees’ option like Charlotte. Lilly had started a Saturday job where her shifts were every other week and varied between day and evening. This meant she knew she wouldn’t be able to play every week, but aiming to play 10 or so games.

By Christmas, Lilly had managed to play nine games and her shifts had moved to a Sunday therefore her circumstances changed, and she would be able to play every weekend after Christmas. This meant that she was likely to play over 15 games in total. Lilly spoke to the Membership Secretary and they agreed to change the membership to the combined subscription option and Lilly paid the remaining balance upfront.

Dustin

Dustin chose the same option as Lizzy, Combined Subs with the Standing Order option. In October however, he decided to go on a six-month sabbatical from his job. This meant he had no income for the rest of the season. After discussing these sensitive circumstances with the Membership Secretary and Treasurer the membership category was changed from senior to student to make the cost more manageable.

Additional note; if a player sustains any injury, or is unable to play for other reasons, the Club may refund 1/8 of the subscription for any complete month that the player is unable to play. Any such refunds will be at the Committee’s discretion.
